I wholeheartedly agree that it's important and I understand that you,
along with many, holding off until this is available. That's OK. It's
coming. But we won't rush to release it until we're confident it's
working the way we want it to.

lol. I laughed at the "freaks out" explanation.

@Blue, what I did on our/my blogs is I manually edit the templates.

1) Remove the old link that allows the users to post new comments using the built-in comment system
2) Add Disqus code-bits where appropriate

This way, all existing comments regardless of date and time will still show up. Any new comments from then on are now DISQUS.

Only catch is, if the user knows the exact comment URL of your blog platform ;) Which is easily remedied anyway if you are familiar with it or have access to the files.

On b2evolution v2.x.x, when I turn-off Commenting, trackback is also affected. But on blogger, there is an option of Don't Allow, Show (existing) Comments.

If I choose option 2 then any new comments on posts that already have comments will not be on Disqus. I would like to use Disqus for all comments from this point forward, including on posts that already have comments. I don't mind "closing" the comments from the Wordpress side, but I want to still be able to see existing comments. I think the import functionality would address this, yes.

So is there an ETA for that, Daniel?

I just added Discus and chose option 1 first (and commenced freaking out, as suggested above). I've tried the others, and would like option 4: Don't replace comments but append to closed comments posts. That way I could keep my old comments on the site but use Disqus going forward. I really don't want to get rid of my comments (my blog seems lonely with NO discussion!) but I'd like for all new comments to be through Disqus. Is this possible?

I think I have it figured out.

- Replace comments on all posts
Makes all old comments disappear and freaks out the user. :) All comments then are controlled by Disqus.

- Replace all entries with no comments (including future posts)
Leaves all previous comments as they are. Any posts with 0 comments, and any new post have their comments controlled by Disqus. This should be the default option.

- Replace comments only on entries with closed comments.
Leaves all comments as they are an only puts Disqus into play if you close the comments on a post.

I think that's all right. :)
