Thanks for the report. We haven't seen this issue before.

i got the same issues: http://liveimagephoto.com/misc/reverend-of-the-... anything on a post duplicates with disqus on. Flash videos, pics, music. Help on a fix for this issue would be appreciated.

It's a weird issue and it must have something to do with how the theme
is structured (in a non-standard way). I don't have an answer as of
    this moment.

In my case, it was a disabled (!!!) plugin that was still capable of adding a filter to the content of the post causing it to be displayed on the screen rather than just returned properly from the apply_filters() function. I narrowed it down to one of five plugins: yet-another-photoblog, crossroads, wordpress-flickr-manager, wishlist, or openbook-book-data. Like I said, these were all DISABLED in Wordpress, but I had to DELETE them from my Wordpress plugins folder to make the problem go away.

I would like to clarify that it wasn't in any way the fault of the Disqus plugin - the Disqus plugin just happened to be the only plugin that tries to get the excerpt for the post, causing the chain of function calls that ultimately ended in the other disabled plugin's filter being called, thus causing text to be displayed.

Also, thank you Jason for the help - we had a near-real-time e-mail exchange during the process of fixing this, and he was great.

My problem still occurs, I have none of those plugins and just now updated disqus plugin to latest version. disabled all plugins and problem is still there. Cant disqus do a redundancy check on whether a post is being displayed twice. It displays the second time right as the disqus DIV kicks in. Why does it even need to copy/pasta the blog content to display comments?

if anyone is willing to help I have enabled plugin display at http://liveimagephoto.com/misc/plugins-enabled-... the password is: disqus

It's not the Disqus plugin - I've gone through the plugin code myself, and it doesn't "copy/pasta the blog content to display comments". And there's no check it can do to make sure some other plugin hasn't added a filter that improperly causes the text to display when it examines the text of the post (it DOES grab the excerpt for it's internal use - it never tells it to display).

Also, it was a DISABLED plugin causing my problem, so disabling plugins doesn't really tell you where the problem lies (apparently even a disabled plugin can register a text filter that, if improperly written, will cause the text it's filtering to be displayed - I think that's a bug, myself, and possibly a security risk) - I had to actually REMOVE the plugins from the wp-content/plugins folder before the problem went away. When Disqus was the only plugin INSTALLED, there was no problem. I reinstalled plugins until the problem came back - at all times, only the Disqus plugin was ENABLED. The reason I don't know which of the above plugins was the problem was because I got lazy after a couple of tries and started installing plugins in batches - one of the plugins in that batch was the problem. That doesn't mean there's only one plugin that causes the problem though.

I could see code injection happening with a disabled plugin, will this problem be forwarded to a wordpress developer? Its not right that a plugin should have filters still enabled if the plugins are disabled. Im thinking it has something to do with a plugin php calls on some other plugin which wreaks havoc on disqus.

This happen on my blog too, so if it keeps on doing this and i won't be able to fix it, i will remove Disqus, I can not use it this way
  • DuckPuppy · 1 year ago
Seriously, it's not the Disqus plugin. Something else you have installed is doing something bad. Read my replies above.

OK, you have a point, but still, I have quite a few plugins there and I don't want to remove them to test this. I will evaluate it and see what I will do. Thanks for your answer.

We've discovered that it was not due to Disqus, but another plugin.
Which plugins do you have? I can point out the most likely culprit.
