Disqus is so much better than the default typepad system I was running my blog on. The UI for commenting on typedpad was clunky and you couldn't reply to to specific comments. My readers wanted to comment on my posts, but they were just confused.

I've been using disqus for about 1 month now and it is the shit. My reader participation, in the form of comments, has gone up from 1.5 comments on average per/post to about 8 comments on average per/post. Daniel and his team did a great job.

    Does it work with Joomla?
  • Daniel Ha · 2 years ago
We have not tested Disqus with Joomla, but it should work as well.

Just email us if you need any help: help@disqus.com

Looking kinda snazzy. Curious to see where it all leads...

    Hi Josh,
Tks for mentioning cocomment as a comment service provider as well. We will be launching a rating system for articles very soon, in fact we are working on it right now, allowing blogers to go straight to the most important articles and increasing our community activity among our 665,000 users.
If you have any suggestyions or questions you can reach me at joaquin@cocomment.com
    Thank a lot
    Joaquin

Hmm Interesting. I did a google search on Disqus Reviews and found your post. I like the idea... but I worry that it will deter some people from commenting.

what is this? I don't even...
  • John Burton · 1 year ago
Just installed it on my site. www.r180.com/blog. I didn't realize it would delete all of my old comments, though. Other than that, I love it.
  • Eric Lee · 1 year ago
Actually, it doesn't delete any of your old comments. Your old comments should still be there, you just have to import them in.

    this is a spin
  • David Reber · 1 year ago
Great review but I have a question. Does Disqus require the commenter to create an account or can they choose to comment with their name or anonymously as with blogger now?
  • David Reber · 1 year ago
dareber here again maybe just answering my own question.

is this comment system powered by disqus?
  • JC John Sese Cuneta (謝施洗) · 1 year ago
Why not make Disqus integral to CNet? ;) Not a loss for a powerhouse like CNet ;)

I and countless others comment more and with high probability if we see Disqus :p

Just found out about this 4 mins ago...very interesting. Wonder if my readers/commenters will find it equally as interesting and perhaps useful.

    Thanks for the demo.

Very interesting, I didn't know you could embed a comments feature into individual posts.. I've been using the system on our blog for a little while now, and so far so so good (http://www.palaestratraining.com/blog)

Thanks for the added information, and keep up the great work!

checking out Disqus and Video comment system;)
  • podcastdirector · 1 year ago
Video works ok, posting via Disqus is new to me, looking great so far - however, I seriously do wonder if this doesn't scare people from commenting on your blog because one can get reposted and can get thumbs up and down andso on.
  • jrbeilke · 10 months ago
Disqus really is a great system. I just recently replaced the default Wordpress Comments on my blog (www.moongrabber.com) with Disqus, and the difference is night and day. The extra features of Disqus are also a really great plus, including the comment rating system, and Facebook Connect integration for comments.

I've installed Disqus on my blog powered by Joomla and have been using it for a few months now. Overall, I've been really impressed with how easy it is to integrate and allows for non users to still comment without having to register for yet another service if they don't want to. Granted, once a site gains in users, this will have to be turned off to reduce spammers, but I haven't had one spammer yet, so the integrated filter works pretty well.

One thing that really bugs me (I know this is probably because I'm using Joomla) is that on the front page it only displays "view comments" as opposed to the number of comments per article. Once article view is open is displays the number of comments but not on the front page. It would be easier for users to get involved / read an article if there is already a few comments. Check it out if you want http://joelhageman.com .
