URLs showing instead of post titles in comment thread?

Started by morganb · 1 year ago

Suddenly Disqus has started showing my post URLs instead of the title names (see blownmortgage.disqus.com) for the last two posts. It looks terrible and makes it difficult for users to figure out which post is which. Can you let me know what I need to change to return to showing the post title rather than URL?

Thanks,
Morgan

  • It looks like we're not able to get your blog's title. This may be due
to the extraneous spacing before the letters inside the <title> tags.
    I'll let you know more.
  • Hi Daniel, Any update on this?

    Thanks,
    Morgan
  • I found a couple of extra spaces inside the title tags and removed them. Waiting to see if anything will change. But why didn't it happen before?
  • i'm on WP - what php file do you edit to remove the spaces from post title
    tags? thanks for the help!
  • If you have a hosted wordpress then go to your theme directory (under <your blog url>/wp-content/themes/<your theme name>) and try to spot a file called header.php Most of the themes have one. Then look what is inside the <title> and </title> tags. I had a quick look at your blog's main page html and it doesn't seem to have any extra space in the title tag though.
  • thanks nikan for the help!morgan
  • :)
  • Daniel, the extra spaces in the title tag do not seem to be the reason. Please look at it as it disrupts the visibility of the blog posts.
  • Just noticed the same problem on my today's post.
  • I noticed this on my friends blog today. Its ruining the format of the recent comments widget in the sidebar. :( I've hidden the comment (it only happened to one) as a work around.
  • I've been having this problem for a while now as well. Could it be to me adding a [space] or two before typing the title for the post? www.THEeCoSTREAM.com
  • I didn't see this thread previously (wish there was a search function for the forum - if there is one I couldn't find it), but I just posted about the exact same issue. I can't seem to find any extra spaces or any reason why certain posts are pulling the title and certain posts are pulling the full URL and causing major problems for the display. Has any progress been made on this issue?
  • Yep, we're still working on it.

Hope to update you very soon.
