The Disqus Blog: Now Available: Commenting with Twitter Sign-in

  • Joe Ascanio · 7 months ago
Amazing! it keeps getting better and better. Add in functionality for Google Friend Connect, and you will truly have a world-dominating tool.
  • Hugh Isaacs II · 6 months ago
Yea, both that and OpenID commenting (and Friend Connect commenting has to support using your own Site ID).

And we need the ability to sync Disqus comments with Blogger comments (via OAuth).

    Then Disqus will be #1.
  • felipe · 7 months ago
I see if you login with Twitter you can "Like" comments. That's so cool!.
Why don't you add this to Facebook too? That'd be even better ;)

PS: Uh and yes, direct OpenID login is still very much missed
  • snekse · 7 months ago
No doubt. I am trying to be very patient while waiting for an OpenID button just like this new Twitter one. Something along the lines of ClickPass would be just AWESOME since it would help users see ALL of their login options.

I see the green bar that says your changes have been saved successfully, and the boxes are checked next to Hacker News and Reddit, but if I select a different site (using the big select box at the top) and come back, the boxes are then unchecked.

You all do have a lot of features now. I'm having some trouble on the admin/settings page. I keep checking Hacker News and Reddit, then Save, but the option doesn't stick. The Twitter Sign-In option does stick. What I mean is, after I click Save, I see the green bar that says your changes have been saved successfully, and the boxes are checked next to Hacker News and Reddit, but if I select a different site (using the big select box at the top) and come back, the boxes are then unchecked.

Additionally, social media reactions seems to have stopped working for FriendFeed comments. Two days ago I was looking at http://ourdoings.com/ourdoings-startup/2009-04-14 and there were lots of FriendFeed comments from http://friendfeed.com/brlewis/ea49a700/how-non-... but yesterday and today I don't see them.

    Topic: Taking on California's problems

Why should other states pay more taxes to help California when they have a tax law that doesn't revise the tax code to increase taxes of homeowners. Some people are paying a small amount of taxes when their homes are worth millions. They are "GRANDFATHERED" in using the old tax codes. New families who move to California have to pick up this tax inequality in the MELROSE TAX. Why hasn't CNN looked into this property tax situation????????????????

Are Coloradoans supposed to pick up other states debts that don't even have state taxes???????????????? We are barely making our own state budget balance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! California has always been different---when they run out of water they expect others to help out but don't conserve. Now it is money!!!!!!!!!!!! It is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These people only want to take and give nothing back.

I know about this property tax inequality. I have a brother who lives in Walnut Creek, CA. His house has a market value of $1 million plus. I have a house in Colorado, market value $390,000, and I pay over $2500.00 per year. My brother pays less than $1000 per year. It is no wonder that CA is in desperate straits for revenue. Californians do not want to pay their own way. Sorry, that's the way it is there.

A Brief Illustrated Guide To Understanding Islam

    Home Page
    You are here: Islam-Guide.com
Home > Chapter 1, Some Evidence for the Truth of Islam > (1) The Scientific Miracles in the Holy Quran > D) The Quran on the Cerebrum
    D) The Quran on the Cerebrum:

God has said in the Quran about one of the evil unbelievers who forbade the Prophet Muhammad from praying at the Kaaba:

No! If he does not stop, We will take him by the naseyah (front of the head), a lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)! (Quran, 96:15-16)

Why did the Quran describe the front of the head as being lying and sinful? Why didn’t the Quran say that the person was lying and sinful? What is the relationship between the front of the head and lying and sinfulness?

If we look into the skull at the front of the head, we will find the prefrontal area of the cerebrum (see figure 12). What does physiology tell us about the function of this area? A book entitled Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology says about this area, “The motivation and the foresight to plan and initiate movements occur in the anterior portion of the frontal lobes, the prefrontal area. This is a region of association cortex...”1 Also the book says, “In relation to its involvement in motivation, the prefrontal area is also thought to be the functional center for aggression....”2

Figure 12 (Click here to enlarge)

Figure 12: Functional regions of the left hemisphere of the cerebral cortex. The prefrontal area is located at the front of the cerebral cortex. (Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, Seeley and others, p. 210.) (Click on the image to enlarge it.)

So, this area of the cerebrum is responsible for planning, motivating, and initiating good and sinful behavior and is responsible for the telling of lies and the speaking of truth. Thus, it is proper to describe the front of the head as lying and sinful when someone lies or commits a sin, as the Quran has said, “...A lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)!”

Scientists have only discovered these functions of the prefrontal area in the last sixty years, according to Professor Keith L. Moore.3
