Let's say that you write "post A" and that this post results in a lively discussion. Subsequently you write "post B" that includes information that wasn't available at the time of post A. In this case, I would want to close the discusion on "post A" and redirect people to the new discussion of "post B."

Just out of curiosity, can you unlock a discussion after it has been locked? I don't know if there's a call for this, but I'm just curious.توبيكات ملونه

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

I have seen people locking their thread and I'm wondering," Hey how did they do it?". There are certain post that I just want to explain or show that comments are not really necessary. This the thought of why i think locking of a thread is needed.

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

Its quite helpful in discussion forums especially when you want to maintain your privacy issues.. For threads that have either been continued elsewhere or duplicate an existing thread, you can lock them without discussion.

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

Awesome . I tried to follow Disqus example to no avail. I guess things have changed. Thanks.

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

I'm guessing things have changed since this feature was first created. If I read this right, now it's a moderating > threads command, and under the "More" link with each thread, there's a "Close Thread (Do not allow comments) " link -- looks good, works great! The challenge I have is finding an older thread that I want to close comments on, but there's no search command to find that thread, and I've got 60+ pages of threads to look through, which I can't do. Help?

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

This is a cool feature.

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

This has nothing to do with Disqus. It looks like there is a vulnerability in our WordPress installation that allowed bad people to place spam links on the page.

Thanks for pointing it out, I'll remove it.

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

I see what you mean, Daniel why do these links exist?

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

I checked out the html source of this page to get an idea of how comments are encoded (javascript vs. html) and I noticed hundreds of spam links present but hidden from view. Did disqus put all these hidden links there? If so, you should certainly disclose this "feature."

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

hope this thread doesn't get locked as an example!

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

Yup, you can unlock as well.

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

Awesome new feature!

Re: New Dashboard feature: Lock threads

I already see a potential application.
