The Disqus Blog: Missing Comments

  • Sketchee · 9 months ago
For example, this post should have 17 comments, but I can't see any with Disqus on! http://www.sketchee.com/1278/embedding-your-zaz...

I'm having the same problem. Would appreciate some guidance.

We are having the same issue:
    http://www.amtshows.com/fan-corner/doobie-broth...

2 comments but only 1 showing.
  • Sketchee · 9 months ago
Glad to hear I'm not the only one at least. Is there any solution for this? I have set Disqus to not show on old blog posts. Disqus was only showing 48 out of 290 comments in my whole blog from what I can figure from the control panel!

I am having a similar issue - while most of my comments are displaying, I am getting random new comments that show up in my Wordpress database but NOT on DISQUS.
  • Intern · 9 months ago
similar problem - 'add new comment' box not showing at all beneath posts.

With regard to Facebook Connect --- Do commenters have to be logged into facebook for their avatars to be visible?

Can you take a screenshot and send it to me?

Facebook avatars do NOT show up in the recent comments widget.
  • Giannii · 9 months ago
Which site are they not showing up on? I will take a look.

My site is www.TerraCurve.com - the Recent Comments are visible in the right sidebar. And actually, now all of a sudden ALL Facebook comments are no longer showing up in the recent comments widget!!! It was just the avatars not displaying, now the comments themselves seem to have disappeared! What happened?
  • Joe Ascanio · 9 months ago
Ok...looks like the comments are now showing up in the Recent Comments widget again...however...as before, the avatar for Facebook comments in the widget is not displaying the user's photo!

Also, shouldn't the link to the Facebook user's name point to the user's Facebook account, NOT a Disqus page like http://disqus.com/people/facebook-19607018/ ?
  • Giannii · 9 months ago
We're aware of the facebook avatar issue and working to fix it. All of the
widgets take 15 minutes to refresh.

Back to the original issue, however...as I stated above, while most of my comments are displaying, I am getting random new comments that show up in my Wordpress database but NOT on DISQUS.

Example: my Wordpress backend is telling me that I have a comment at this address: http://www.terracurve.com/2009/03/30/am-i-an-ea...

It is, in fact, an actual comment from a regular reader. I can see the comment on the page if I disable DISQUS. The comment does not show up on the page with DISQUS enabled, nor does it show up on the DISQUS community page.

I tried re-importing my comments, but that did not work either.

    Help!
  • Sketchee · 9 months ago
The issue continues for me also, Disqus when enabled doesn't show most of my comments. Re-importing was no help. It seems like that aspect of this thread is being glosses over (worked on behind the scenes I hope). Until then, I have disqus disabled =(

    Having the same problem... http://8020world.com/jcmendez/2009/04/geeky-stu...

Any news on how to solve it?
  • Juan Carlos Mendez-Garcia · 8 months ago
    @giannii

No avail to solving the issue of missing comments. I tried creating and deleting the disqus site definition... Nothing, when I reimport imports less comments than the ones I have on Wordpress. Any ideas?

Are you getting any errors? I can manually import your comments for you.

Giannii - I don't get any errors. Simply, some messages don't get imported so when I activate the use of disqus comments on the website, these are simply not visible. Thank you for your offer of manually import them. Please let me know what you want me to send you

    Thanks!

Same thing happening on my post here: http://www.gamerwok.com/archives/3175

Was working fine for posts on other threads but this latest post isn't showing the comments WP actually sees.

Yes I have, twice actually. The second import it brought one of the missing comments but the second one is still outstanding. I've deactivated disqus for now and wordpress comments are fine.

    Yep, twice.

The thing is there are three comments on my latest blog post that show up on the dashboard of wordpress, but in the disqus comments section (in the admin side), they don't show up at all.

    It's odd.

Oh hell, it's only 3 comments, so no worries. I'll worry if it becomes bigger, but it's cool that y'all are aware of it.

Much thanks for the offer, though! But no need to work on a Friday afternoon for three comments. :)

One thing of note (if it helps):

I've unapproved and reapproved the three comments to no avail. I will get an email from wordpress notifying me that I have a new comment from these three difficult ones when I unapprove/reapprove, but not an email from disqus (which I usually get).

It appears that the comments are bypassing disqus altogether.

Now, if you want the export file fro troubleshooting, I will definitely throw it your way, but, like I said, I don't need it done for three comments. :)

    Thanks again!!

I set up disqus and while beneath my posts, it says "Comments(view)" when I click on it, nothing happens, therefore no one can comment. What is the problem? I pasted all the proper disqus codes in the customize section of my tumblr. Please help!
  • Everton · 4 months ago
    Hi Giannii

Seems like you're a busy guy reading all the threads. I've just sent you the exports for my 4 blogs as I'm having the same problem. Thanks in advance for the import.

    Two separate question.

    - will the disqus comments show in my site feed?
    - my 'people' widget is showing no info? Does it only apply to comments since activation? It's not working for those either though...

    Thanks

    EB

    Regards
