The Disqus Blog: How do I mark as spam?

  • James · 1 year ago
I am starting to see the same issue on my blog. Spam is getting in and I can't mark it from the Disqus Admin panel or at least flag it.
  • Alex Popescu · 1 year ago
I have found a settting: "Flagging inappropriate comments" on the Permissions page. Not sure if this is what you are looking for though.
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
For now, you can remove it and we'll work with that to identify spam.
  • Alex Popescu · 1 year ago
I was also wondering if Disqus has a spam detection engine or is it integrating with an existing one.

    tia,

Disqus' handling of spam also involves a number of third party engines.
  • Toybox · 1 year ago
Sorry for being ignorance, may i know what is the third party engines are referring to?
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
Reporting spam could be easier, we realize that. It'll be part of
larger changes that addresses the spam issues on Disqus.

    Daniel,

the big complaint in my case here is not that it's hard to remove
comment but that it's annoying since the removal is not synchronized
    with my Wordpress.
  • Toybox · 1 year ago
Ya, I hate spam. Better figure out a way to get rid of it~

if I am logged in as the admin I can click the spam of the user and block it, remove it and so on... you have to be logged in as the disqus admin to see it.... why not integrate with akismet, I had no issues with span before and can we get a search area to find posts in the forum I find it difficult to find things..

I've had several spam messages over the passed few days. Daniel, I know you guys are doing a great job. I hope you can put a stop to it as soon as possible.

    Thanks,
    Dave

How about adding at CAPTCHA? Im getting more spam still.
  • corourke · 1 year ago
I just got hit by spam from a guy named afforadablewebdesign. Novel type of spam. He was just copying/quoting a few lines from my post so at a glance it seems relevant. Would be nice if marking as spam in wordpress communicated the spam status to Disqus.
  • M · 1 year ago
I've seen the same thing as Corourke a few times in the last few days.

As previously suggested by others, A CAPTCHA feature and/or Akismet integration would be great to have.
  • Chris Baskind · 1 year ago
CAPTCHA wouldn't get most of what I'm dealing with. It's human-generated. Looks just like a comment -- even references the article intelligently -- but the "commenter' name is a keyword and it links to a spam or commercial site.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We know about the recent increase in spam, and we're rolling out some new anti-spam features really soon.
