The Disqus Blog: FriendFeed

I just want to mention, that Friendfeed-Integration is a very important thing for me, and can boosts comments insanely. I received more comments on friendfeed in 3 month, then i did in 4 yaers of blogging.

Intense Debate already support friendfeed, but i chose Disqus for the much better performance and video integration, but i need friendfeed.

    So +1 for friendfeed.

Their support is not connected with their accounts or profiles. It's
    arbitrary retrieval.

Ours will integrate the comment profiles.

I hope so much for it.
    This is so important.

    Hear! Hear!

I would love to see you set up something with FriendFeed like you did with Plaxo.
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
    Working on it!
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
Definitely working on a write-enabled API. Thanks for the feedback.
  • Czar · 1 year ago
    +1 for this request.
  • klecu · 1 year ago
I realize that Friendfeed's API is also very new and not fully featured yet. Hope that FriendFeed and Disqus both continue to improve their API's. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the work on this, Dan & team Disqus!

Let me get clarification on how this will work:

    -I post to my blog.
-The feed for my blog show's on my friend's Friendfeed page.
-They leave a comment on that blog feed entry on Friendfeed.
-Disqus pulls the comment from Friendfeed back into my Disqus comments.

Is that correct? I believe this is already how it works with Plaxo. If not, that's what I'd like to request.

Also, any updates on this? Looks like there hasn't been anything new mentioned on the status in about a month.
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
We'd like this as well. Some things are out of our hands, though.

Both Disqus and FriendFeed are working to make this possible.
  • Ryo · 1 year ago
Please, after so long ago, there is still no friendfeed support. On Intense Debate there is now full suppor. Comments written in FF appearing in the blog.
If thisd takes much longer, I have to switch, but i like Disqus more.
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
Those FF comments are not synced with that comment system, but are
just aggregated. There are plugins that support this already: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/friendfeed-...

We're finishing implementation that will connect FF comments with your
Disqus profile, which no other system does yet.

Daniel love the the last statement about implementing FF comments with your disqus profile. very kool. keep up the great work!
  • Scott · 1 year ago
Would those comments then appear back on the original blog? That would be great.

I've always been a little concerned over the issue that Friendfeed takes the discussion away from blogs and puts it somewhere else. That's the primary reason I don't use Friendfeed. I feel FF hijacks the conversation on content created elsewhere.

If Disqus creates the roundtrip syncing of comments, that would be a killer feature for Disqus. Yes, I know, you're working on it and you have to get FF to buy into it too.

I too would love some DISQUS/FF comment integration. Do you have a UserVoice page or something else for transparently tracking interest levels behind feature requests?
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
We don't, but I'm aware of UserVoice. I will look into setting one up
    for us.

Sweet! I love reply by email, btw.
