Disqus: The Official Blog - Vote + Comment on your Favorite X-mas flick at BBC's Radio Times!
I've been disappointed by the random and incomplete response from Disqus on a few key FB Connect issues
1) Will FB connect work with Disqus if you've set your blog to only allow comments from Registered or Email Verified users?
2) Does Disqus integrate comments posted under a Disqus login and FB Connect login if they are from the same person? We have hundreds of commenters and THOUSANDS of comments people have invested in. I'd like to offer the FB connect convenience, but not at the cost of splitting our users' comments and identity.
3) do you have PLANS to offer these capabilities?
Both of these questions have been asked repeatedly on this thread at Disqus, and they have noticeably not been answered clearly.
I think Disqus is underestimating the risk blog owners are taking by deploying these new services and not offering clear, transparent answers to essential questions makes me question the commitment of the team to offering a stable, long term community solution. I don't have time to just install the app and see what works, but that's what I'm left with.
Even getting questions answered here is pretty random. There's this forum which offers NO SEARCH and there are comments on the blog posts announcing the new feature. A blog post is not the best way to communicate product features and installation guidelines, and a searchless forum is useless for those of us who don't have time to randomly scroll back in time, hoping someone has asked our question.
So, could someone from disqus please answer the three questions I've asked but also consider a better structure for communicating features, instructions and FAQs around your product.
I feel like you've been around long enough to have solved this, and the chaos involved in answering basic questions makes me nervous continuing with your product.
thanks, and all the best

I guess there's no way of linking up the Disqus profiles we have with the new Facebook ones--we'll be showing up differently, right?
is there another blogger issue with disqus related to facebook connect?
What would be nicer is the ability to have both on one profile, but privacy options as to who can see which stream.
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg131/garyde...
1. Commenting with my facebook account doesn't add the comments to my disqus account. I have added my facebook account to my disqus profile so I would think it would be possible to link the two together.
2. Will you be posting items to my users' facebook news feeds to tell their friends that they commented on my blog? This would be killer.
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg131/garyde...
And I have to log in with each new comment.
Also, is there a way to integrate your old Disqus comments with the new Facebook Connect system?
And ... :) don't you love roll-out
It does this every time I try to leave a second comment after logging in to Facebook. Another way to say it is... I have had to login to facebook connect three times to leave these three messages.

What URL is it taking you to?
The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL (http://disqus.com/facebook-connect/xd_receiver....) must have the application's callback url (http://www.disqus.com) as a prefix. You can configure the callback url in the application's settings.

My site is vegpage.com, but it's trying to run the code from my site. Should I change my callback URL to discus?

Any suggestion?
The problem origin was a "space" at the begin of the Facebook "secret".
Note for DisqUs: you should trim the leading spaces on those input fields.

I have checked the FB keys and there's no accidental spaces anywhere....what should I do?
Btw the 'wasn't supposed to happen' problem is gone, thx!
And I keep seeing the 'enter a valid name' bug again and again.

I've now switched two of my three blogs to Disqus primarily because of its integration with Facebook Connect.
FYI ... I wrote a step-by-step guide why and how to integrate Facebook Connect with Disqus:

I hope you find it useful.

Turns out I'm having a problem and so is another user 'baratunde aka Jack turner'. We discuss it in the comments in that thread. Specifically, the comments that we are posting using Facebook Connect are not yet showing up in our feeds/walls in Facebook. Does it take some time for Facebook to update all their servers to make this work? Otherwise things seem to be running fine so far.

Since yesterday I've identified two other problems which I outline in sections 5.2 and 5.3 of my post. The first is a "That Wasn't Supposed To Happen" error when trying to post with FBC on three different browsers (picture included in the post). Another problem is that Disqus is sometimes, but not always, not remembring a FBC commenter from one comment to the next, forcing the commenter to re-permission for each comment even if a comment is left on the same blog within seconds of a previous FBC comment.

The issue of having to log out and back in to Facebook every time I have to post a is also a hassle.
Finally, it would be nice if the comments we post actually appear in the news feed. That's really one of the main points of this functionality. . . isn't it?

We are still working on the posting to newsfeed functionality but be
assured it is coming. Also we have been discussing a better way to
link your FB & Disqus.

When I post using Facebook Connect, it still shows as Facebook User even though search visibility in Facebook is set to 'everyone' and 'enable public search' is checked.
