Thank You for your answer !

Oh, and, may I ask : what does "ping me" mean ? ^^

    Thank you !
  • Giannii · 9 months ago
Ping is a internet term and kinda a naval sub term for contact. =) My
apologies, sometimes the internet lingo just pops out.

This is happening on my Blog as well. An example here:

    http://techveki.com/2009/03/31/directtv-links-u...

I do have my facebook profile id number listed on my Disqus account. Just looks like they are not linked.
  • knowyourmerch · 8 months ago
this is happening to my facebook account too as well (eg. http://blog.dreamteam300.com/post/91597953/know... ).

at first i thought it was a bug because i had just logged out as the disqus admin for those comment pages so i could respond more personally to our audience with my facebook login, and maybe something happened with the module refresh. but after trying to post again over a day later and after refreshing the blog page after logging out as a disqus user, logging out as a facebook user, and logging in again again with facebook connect, my comment still shows up as "Facebook User".

sadly enough, my previous comments that i had posted with my facebook connect login are now "Facebook User" as well, so it definitely looks account-based.
  • knowyourmerch · 8 months ago
... does anyone at Disqus read and reply to these forums? i see this happening to other Facebook users while I'm reading other sites that use Disqus as well. thanks. :)

I can provide you all the files from my theme, because maybe something's in conflict with the Disqus plugin...

Hey, im also having his problem. Comment name appears as facebook-514297758 instead of my name.
  • steve · 7 months ago
I'm having same issue as Marc. It works for some of my coworkers, just not for me. Wondering if it is some sort of Facebook profile security setting??
  • Marc Styles · 7 months ago
Hey steve, curious as to whether this issue is now sorted for you?

This thread has gone a bit quiet. Let me know please :)
  • sarah1124 · 7 months ago
Has this problem been solved yet?
  • Josh Kinal · 7 months ago
@knowyourmerch, I think if you're using Disqus and you're worried about how it will look to your customers if you reply as "Facebook User" then maybe you should, even in the interim, use a method other than Facebook Connect for posting your comments.

@Giannii, it would be great if you could give us an update from the dev team to let us know when we could expect this issue to be resolved.

    Thanks.

it seems i am having this problem too now..... just now i logged in with facebook connect and now it says "Logged in as....: but there is no name...
and the avatar is not shown, too.

The only thing I noted when I logged in was this: The popup came. I entered my facebook user and pass.... then in the same popup window I got the message "Disallowed characters". What does that mean? I entered my passcorrectly and although I got that message, I was still loggeed in..... (well, without the name showing and without the avaar as said before).

Anybpdy getting this "disallowed characers" mesage? facebook connect was working fine before.
  • Tonneau · 7 months ago
    I had the same issue
  • bangkok1080 · 7 months ago
the exact message im getting every time i try to login to my site with facebook connect is:

"The URI you submitted has disallowed characters."

is that also the message the others are getting?
  • Ulises · 7 months ago
I had this problem, what I did was clean my browser's cache and everything was fine. My only observation right now is that when logged in with FBConnect Disqus won't show my FB avatar. Is it suppose to be like this?

    Hi, Gianni.

    My site url is www.juarezpolanco.com

I've just published a comment here http://www.juarezpolanco.com/leer_articulo.php?... and as you can see it won't display my avatar, but instead a noavatar image. I suppose I'm doing something wrong because before I hit the "Publish comment" button it did display my FB avatar.

I followed instructions at http://wiki.disqus.net/FacebookConnectHelp#FBUs... many weeks ago, I even reinstalled and got a new API key and no luck.

    Any new idea?
  • Ulises · 7 months ago
Plus, I had this two images in http://blog.disqus.net/2009/05/07/blacklisting-...

My screen just before I post a comment:

Once it's published, with no avatar

I too am having the same issue where my name and avatar fail to show up. I get a grey smiley face and the username of facebook-1298104538. I have performed the steps in the facebook fix but it has made no difference. I have also cleared my cache in the hopes that helps...it didnt.

here is a link of a recent post

    Hi.

I am so new to all of this, but I follow a blog that is using your comment thingy (sorry for the lack of knowledge..lol) and for some reason I am having the same problem as everyone else here. When I am "logged in" under facebook, my avatar and name show up above the comment box, but then when I submit my comment, only my picture and facebook73800389 are displayed. Iw ould like for it to show my name, but I don't know to fix it. I tried to go into my settings and changed everything you said, but that didn't work.

    Thanks!
  • thetarantism · 5 months ago
I just now installed Disqus on my website and I tried to test the comment with Facebook and got the same problem (http://thetarantism.com/article.php?article=10&...). I have made the public listing and everything, and it has not changed (will it take a few hours to propagate? I just changed it half an hour ago).

    Thanks in advance
  • Giannii · 5 months ago
I'm not seeing your comment =/ Try this though:

It’s caused by a privacy setting in your Facebook settings. You may
wish to update your privacy settings to allow Disqus to pull the right
    information.

    Hi Giannii,

I am having this problem with some of my users as well.

I have had them follow your privacy setting instructions, but that hasn't solved it.

    Example URL:

  • waisybabu · 5 months ago
I'm having the "facebook-xxxxxxx" problem on my website: http://artsyhands.com/ even though I have inserted the required API code in Disqus' admin settings.

    Kindly acknowledge.

Seems like a lot of people are having the same problem. A couple of things Giannii, for one the link you posted

    http://wiki.disqus.net/FacebookHelp

Is a dead one, here's what I get.

"This page does not exist yet. You can create a new empty page, or use one of the page templates."

Now when I manually search for facebook on the Disqus wiki, I get the "fix" that you've posted above about privacy settings. This does not fix the issue. What else can we try, and will Disqus be addressing a fix soon?

As it stands now, facebook integration is unusable. It was in fact one of the reasons I switched my comment system over to disqus, I'm hoping you can guide as all towards a solution.

    Regards,
  • tradespeople · 4 months ago
Yes I have the same problem

    facebook-XXXXXXX

    Please fix this.
  • J. Takahashi · 4 months ago
This problem looks like it's been going on for awhile (Over 3 months!) and yet nothing has been done to fix the problem. Is there any way we can get a separate page on the wiki dedicated to solving this problem? The layout of the wiki isn't exactly conducive for quickly answering/solving problems that your users seem to have.

I am also having the same problem with the facebook connect. Whenever someone tries to comment, it displays the facebook user name and avatar prior to posting, but shows " facebook-(id number)" as the name after posting. You can see an example here: http://jtakahashi.tumblr.com/post/151414358#dis...

I am under the impression that the Disqus staff is as clueless as we are regarding the cause of the problem. Can we at least find out if this is a facebook account-related or disqus-side related issue?

Also, maybe it would be more useful if http://wiki.disqus.net/FacebookHelp was a valid website.

    Thanks.

Got the same problem. Thought it could be tracked back to when FB allowed custom-URL:s but it seems to be older than that. *subscribing to this thread*
  • Denis Ong · 4 months ago
I have the problem as well. It shows the avatar when I'm logged on but when I actually post something, the profile goes missing. As far as I can tell, the Facebook ID displayed is correct but it doesn't pull in any details.

Public search listing is checked, etc.
  • Yanyan · 4 months ago
    Bumping same problem.

Same problem at superhyperturbo.com Some of our users seem to be able to have success with logging in via facebook others don't. See e.g. http://www.superhyperturbo.com/2009/08/superhyp...

Could you *please* act on this?
