Disqus: The Official Blog - Stocking Stuffers: Blogger Sync, Improved Reactions and Spam Reporting.
this will take back the commenter community in blogs that facebook have sucked in for itself..
www.obamabidenwhitehouse.net
1. I notice that the link to my homepage has vanished from my Disqus profile. Is this a change in Disqus policy, or just a temporary malfunction? If we're looking at the former, and Disqus isn't going to be providing commenters with the chance to get that homepage link, then I would consider this to be a deal breaker.
As a commenter, I am not going to agree to link to a service that isn't willing to link back to me, nor am I going to spend my time writing comments for a blog configured to force me to use such a service. As a blogger, I'm not going to ask my visitors to make use of such a service, themselves. I appreciate the time and trouble that goes into crafting a well thought out response, some of which (on some blogs) have almost become posts in their own right, and see the link I give back to somebody who has positively contributed to the content on my blog as being the very least that I should even think of offering in return.
2. I notice that the buttons have failed to work in some places in our account managers, including, in an almost amusing way, the button on the form for contacting support. Trying to report a problem, and finding oneself stopped by yet another problem, is not an experience that is going to build much confidence in the service.
So far, so bad. I think the staff is slowly destroying what was once an excellent service offering intriguing possibilities, under what I take to be the theory that any attempt to combat spam is, by definition, good, whether it works or not, and whether or not the collateral damage it causes could have been reasonably avoided. I think we've all seen spammers continue to post urls where homepage links have been absent; this isn't going to slow them down one bit. But the honest site owner who wants to build up a web presence by doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing - by posting content that others want to see - stands to get really hurt by this nonsense, and I see little evidence that Disqus cares about that problem at all.
It would be great if you would put the list of small avatars back in the "Subscriptions" area. And, as before, these should be clickable to all that person's posts. The "Subscriptions" feature is not useful, as is, because I can't see all the people to whom I'm "subscribed," and having to scroll back and back and back, in time, when someone might have been posting for many months, as well as having to scroll back through everyone's posts, altogether, is way too time-consuming. So, the capability to just search for one person's posts, via avatar, in case we've forgotten their name, as we could before, would be great.
Also, the "Learn more" link, under "My Settings" is still dead; it would be great if you would return the "Cancel" button to each post, and if you would return the "Reply" button to its original location. More than once, I've almost "Flagged" someone.
Auto-update is not practical on sites that have a lot of commenters who post a lot.
A "Submit Bug" button might be nice for us, and useful, and time-saving for you, since it seems as if we're the lab rats. :-)
Thank you.
Great work on the new Disqus system. I'm using the Wordpress plugin and, echoing what a few folks have said, I don't see the real-time updating section on my site (I have switched to use the Narcissus theme).
Is this something that is yet to come to the WP plugin?
Also, as someone else mentioned, the Seesmic integration seems to have gone too. It wasn't something I used but I liked the idea and thought that I may have used it at some point. Any chance of having it back?
Cheers,
Scott.
By the way, I have updated the comparison analysis with the latest changes. Have a look, if I missed anything - http://www.knowliz.com/2009/06/disqus-intensede...
Thanks and kudos for the changes..
Cheers
I hope you'll do something for b2evolution as well ;) I really need the comment sync since I recently changed base URLs. My re-import request a few weeks ago didn't work I think...
Anyway, I can wait.

great to see, that you develope the comment system more and more. Thx for that, great work!!
But, actually - since yesterday - the gravatars of my commenters are not showing up on my site any more, but on the moderation site of Disqus they do.
Are you working on that or is something wrong with my settings?
Thx for your help :)
It's not possible to hide the avatars. If I select this option in my settings, the avatars still show up on my site, even after forcing to load new with Crtl+F5.
I'm using a blogger.com Blog, would be nice, to get some help here...
One question though - what about the localization? Is it going to be a proper one this time or it's still on the same level as before? Lot of strings are not (and cannot me) translated in "v2" :(
Is it possible that this is being rolled-out slowly?
I have emailed support but so far have heard nothing back.
Please look into this Disqus!
This is now officially getting creepy...
I've investigated this now and it seems to be a problem with our CMS company Abacus rather than yourselves. Sorry for getting eggy.
regards
Dominic
Let me know if you still have issues with that.
you have to go on your Disqus Site to: Comments >> Settings >> Customize >> and choose „Narcissus“ for the Layout structure. Then the new look will show up.
And I would love to get a feedback from the moderators/admins , why the Gravatars from my commenters, which are mostly „guests“ on my blog, don't show up any more. THX! ^_^
I hope, I’ll get an answer from the moderators for my questions as well. ˇ_ˇ
Also, on a different note, I think the Disqus authority should highlight this in one of their blog posts/announcements. I think a lot of people might miss this option tucked deep inside the customization menu...or has it been done already?
Any thoughts? By the way, I LOVE THE NEW LOOK!
Are others reporting this problem?
Thanks
I am now using the Narcissus theme but don't see 'Real-Time' comments although it appears in the Theme Preview. I am using the embedded JS method and see others reporting the same issue. Is this a known issue ?
Also, I don't see any 'Reactions' displayed on any of my posts even though I have enabled all available sources (and have the necessary inbound links) - does this only apply to current posts onwards ?
What are the 'Other services' aggregated by 'Reactions' - simply any additional services supported by BackType and uberVU ? Does this include identi.ca ?
Keep up the great work !
I have to ask though is there any plans to allow subdomain cname access. eg rss.mydomain.com in a cname pointing to the mydomain.disqus.com/rss/output/ect/stuff ?
It would be very helpful for SEO and would not require anything on your part that I'm aware of.
I hope the service response time improves as well.
The interface is cleaner, simpler and superior.
The support buttons were a problem initially, but seem to be working now.
Cheers
It would be great if someone could load and set up Disqus for me. Sorry about the whining.

#1 when post new comment it arrives at top untill you refresh.
#2 I do all my emails, posts, etc on my iPhone. But with the new system, when I try and type, it painfully slows down my phone to the point of almost unusability. Typing is about twenty touches behind the whole time. My guess is because of the real time updating. Just letting you know.
The new system looks great though guys, good job, and thanks for all your hard work! To customize version 3's css, is the process the same, or different??? Thanks for your time!
Edit - if I pause real time updating that fixes my iPhone slowness. But, I keep trying to post a different comment, it initially puts it on top, but then when I refresh it disapears. It has a link in it, is that why? But it doesn't say needs moderator approval?
thanks!
i'm using v3 (narcissus) - i select *do not show* avatar from http://disqus.com/comments/settings/*site*/?p=c... -- when i save changes it reverts back to *show avatar*
what am i doing wrong??
thanks
Ha! Couldn't be further from the truth! I could not understand why comments on my site had dropped off so dramatically, until reader's began sending me emails saying that they could no longer post comments.
HATE what you've done, especially to the Disqus user interface.
Not a happy camper here.
I am aware that it is possible to subscribe to comments on individual post level. I am looking for subscribing comments on "all posts".
forward to that "plugin"
2009/9/1 Disqus <>
Is this plugin almost ready, or still in the early stages?
Thanks,

As the 101st post :p I'm requesting for a the feature: "Merge Disqus Threads". Especially useful for users who are or was experimenting on URL related SEO (in other words, changing URLs to get the best format).
Or is it part of the Disqus premium already?
And also the broken RSS feed issue: http://disqus.disqus.com/disqus_breaking_wordpr...
* Update: It seems the Disqus widget generator is spewing invalid code :( For example, where it says " &hide _avatars=0 " it should actually be " &show_avatars=1 ". Both are supposed to serve the same purpose , but for some weird reason they aren't. Anyway, that's how I got rid of my problem.
Having just added disqus to another of my blogs I am getting the error message
Warning: unlink(C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\/disqus-wordpress.2009-09-22.xml) [function.unlink]: Permission denied
When trying to import old Wordpress comments.
Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?
