The Disqus Blog: Disqus: The Official Blog - Disqus Comments: Translated in over 40 languages

  • harleybreeze · 1 month ago
Why do my posts always require the proofing of a moderator?
    This really irks me.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
There was a day of bad spam and we enabled it for that day forgetting it was on. We're not censoring anything, don't worry.
  • Carlos Couto · 1 month ago
    ok...
  • and 1 · 1 month ago
    got it fellas
  • Shoshan · 1 month ago
Thanks for this, it was really needed.
When will these languages be updated on the system?
Spanish (Spain) is ready and I'd really like to see it working (I did send email informing several days ago).

    Thanks for everything!

Giannii - I don't quite understand. What is being translated here? The site? Some comments?
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
The interface options and the Disqus embed are translated into different languages.
  • Ethan Herdrick · 1 month ago
    OK, thanks Gianni.
  • محمد حمزة · 1 month ago
is Arabic one of those ready languages ?
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
Almost it needs some help, if you have a free moment go ahead and visit http://disqus.com/translate and fill in the blanks =)
  • Vladas Palubinskas · 1 month ago
It seems like the right hand does not know what the left hand does... The translation was never published completely — always half-done, with no explanation nor any warning.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
What do you mean exactly? Can you elaborate?
  • gilblog · 1 month ago
    Hi Gianni !
You say "the interface options and the Disqus embed are translated into different languages".
My question is : When these translations will be available ? And how ?
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
You can find the translations under your general here: http://disqus.com/comments/settings
  • Aaron Brown · 1 month ago
I wish I could GET to my settings. I've sent a few help emails regarding error 500...

"Sorry, an error occurred on our end.

We've been notified of the issue and are on the case.

    * Return to the home page.
    * Need some help? Visit the help page."

...that keeps coming up when I try to access my settings. Any way to fix this, please?
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
Sorry about that, tad bit behind from emails over the weekend. Just sent you a reply.
  • Riddhi Mohan · 1 month ago
    Thats really a nice step.

So, now DisQus will reach to more user who were not using it because of limited language interface.
  • gilblog · 1 month ago
    > Hopefully, Disqus will be translated into French . And I say : the sooner, the better !
When you want to post a comment, the dialog box that opens is in english, in small letters, and printed with light letters on a light background... many users of my web sire complain about this. They are unable to read the form, they don't understand english, and they just can't send a comment.
    > How shall I modify my Disqus version in French ?
    Cordialement,
    gilblog

    Very cool.
  • maxua · 1 month ago
Great news indeed. I checked out Russian transation and the reality is not that great though - localization is about 50% complete.

Do you have any time table as to when we can expect a fully working Russian translation? My site's audience is not geeky and thus English text is a show stopper for me.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
I'll ping a couple other translators to help review the changes. Not to mention one of our dev speaks fluent Russian. =)
  • gilblog · 1 month ago
Sincemy beginning with Disqus, I choosed  french as language for Disqus in the "comments/settings page.

But it does not work with the dialog box for people who try to post a comment.
This is what they get :

" You are commenting as a Guest. You may log into:.....

Wait! Your comment is almost posted. Login instead?

Skip this step. Post my comment as a Guest.

Your comment must be approved by a moderator before appearing here ".

    > ALL IN ENGLISH. This the reason why I asked for a COMPLETE TRANSLATION of Disqus IN FRENCH.
    Hoping for a positive issue.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
There are some words that still need translating, if you have a free moment you can apply to correct them here: http://disqus.com/translate
  • Vladas Palubinskas · 1 month ago
All the words and phrases on disqus.com/translate/lt are translated months ago. The problem is — only half of them are transfered to the interface for readers. No feedback, no information, why and when you accept and transfer some of our translation. And no notification by email or RSS, when you post new words for translation.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
I have a developer working on a interim solution for that type of stuff. Soon. I'll email all the translators once it's ready.
  • Ali · 1 month ago
One problem I have is if someone views my website through an iframe or Google Translate, even a cached page a new thread is created.

Any way to work around this? I thought of using iframes myself but I wouldn't know how to determine height and I'm not a fan of scrollbars. Another thought I had was to disable comments if they weren't viewed on my website but that wouldn't be too fun now would it.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
You bring up a good point here. Let me talk this over with the guys.

I'm not clear on the function of this site; is it just for leaving comments on topicsfound on other sites (AOL,Amazon forums, even I'm not a member?) Or, can I introduce topics for others to discuss/comment on?
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
Disqus provides a commenting service for all blogs on the web. Feel free to email for a longer description. help@disqus.com
