The Disqus Blog: Disqus: The Official Blog - Disqus Comments: Reactions Count + Refresh!

  • Thomas McMahon · 3 months ago
How can we refresh reactions for an entire blog? Many posts say 0 reactions where as the twitter plugin says 100+.
  • Giannii · 3 months ago
Can you shoot me a message with a link to the posts lacking reactions and a couple links to those reactions you expected to see. http://disqus.com/help
  • aneebaba · 2 months ago
Hey Disqus Team - It still says "View Comments" even though I have multiple comments on a post, and I have made the changes in Settings>Appearance (using Narcissus theme) so it should say '2 comments' for example - so have I not done something right?

Hello...it is always nice to see more features coming!

    A couple of issues:

    1) It is not possible to change the "and" between comments and reactions. This is strange if we use words for comments and reactions in another language (although I use Greek language at the settings this is not translated...as some other words also).
    2) I can't see the Refresh Reactions button in my posts.

Thanks and keep up the good work!
  • Giannii · 3 months ago
    1. Currently no but we're working on it.

    2. The Refresh Reactions button will only show up if you have zero reactions on the page.

Next time you have a support request it's much better if you submit it through http://disqus.com/help

    Thanks!

Cool. On the "and" part, I agree with @Manogr.

I have a question, geared towards everyone (Community and Disqus), any suggestions to replace "Reactions"? Having "# Comments and # Reactions" is confusing, they mean the same thing especially to non-native English speakers.

I'm thinking on the line of "Microblog" but I can't fit it correctly. "# Comments and # Microblogs".
Or "# Comments and # Reactions elsewhere" ?? Kinda long tho.

    We're thinking about this.

In the meantime, you can definitely remove the latter portion by blanking out the custom text in your settings.

    nice change

These features are missing in my installation. where do you find reaction counts ?
  • Daniel Ha · 3 months ago
Hi David. The counts are located on the main index link to your comments. This is the place where it usually says something like "5 Comments."
  • David Sanger · 3 months ago
Aha - I see. I had set Thesis options to not show number of comments
in the Byline. now they are showing fine.. thx

Im trying this post as a last resort as Ive submitted numerous emails to support with no Answer. Reactions seems to rarely work on my site - once in a while a post sees reactions but for the most part - none. If you need an example, take a look at any post on my site - it ISNT working. Please please help...
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
I added your site to be rescanned by out bots, did you change anything recently?
  • Mark Robertson · 2 months ago
No, not that I can think of. What would be something that might affect it?
  • Mark Robertson · 2 months ago
Giannii, looks like it is working now on a few more posts..... yipee. Must have been the rescanning that you did. I imagine that takes some time as some posts still dont have the reactions - like http://www.reelseo.com/web-video-marketing-mist...
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
It sometimes takes up to a day or so depending on our partners backtype and ubervu.

I think that I noticed a problem with the reactions count. It seems that whenever I publish a video along with my post - no reactions are counted. Has anyone else seen this? Additionally, even when I request to report missing reactions, no reactions get counted. Please advise. Thank you

    Hi Giannii

I have no reactions registered although I know there over 100 tweets to my posts. Can you please release you bot hounds on http://www.theundercoverrecruiter.com and we'll see if it works.

    Many Thanks!

    Jorgen

Which posts are missing reactions? Could I get a couple examples.
  • Jorgen Sundberg · 4 weeks ago
  • Satya Prakash · 3 weeks ago
I also see lots of reactions missing on my posts. I generally saw that it is missing for twitter. Do Disqus consider short url in twitter? If it is then this is the reason for my missing reaction.
