Disqus is so great I wanna install it again! :P
  • Damian Saunders · 2 months ago
I'm really happy with my decision to install Disqus recently. It seems to be getting better and better.
    Thanks for the update.
  • Kyle Brady · 2 months ago
My Disqus install is broken as of the latest update, and all comments have been closed somehow, and I can't get them to reopen. I emailed your support days ago, and have heard nothing.

Sorry about the delay in response, the team has been in Vegas for Blogworld and we just got back today. I'll get to your email later tonight.
  • alan jones · 2 months ago
Kyle, you're not alone — I have the same problem since the most recent update. I go back through all of them in thread view and re-open each post for comments but then when I save and refresh, all the comments are closed again. Have tried deactivating/reactivating and deleting/reinstalling Disqus, but no luck fixing it yet.
  • alan jones · 2 months ago
i was able to open comments again by turning comments on in each post where they'd been closed (there's a field for that about 2/3rds down the post editing page.)
  • Kyle Brady · 2 months ago
    Yes, except I have 600+ posts... ;-)

We ran a MySQL query to auto-update that field, and checked into a few other errors, but the auto-update fixed the past posts, and a Wordpress setting change fixed for future ones.

Installed Disqus two hours ago and wished I found your "turn comments on in each post" recommendation an hour ago - thank you!
  • Daniel Ha · 2 months ago
Hi Kyle, this was an issue the other day that was resolved.

I hope you had your questions answered. Cheers,

    Daniel
  • Kyle Brady · 2 months ago
Yes, thanks - Jason helped me debug/fix this a few nights ago as the clock moved closer to midnight.

    I appreciate the help.

    Disqus is the bee's knees!
  • Vladas Palubinskas · 2 months ago
Disqus is my idol of usability. But why do you offer language translation and never accept it, though? What is the reason of semi-translated comment interface?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Keep your eye on the blog, there will be an update regarding that very very soon.
  • Sven Kortekaas · 1 month ago
I like the service and I'm using it right now on my website :)

It's hard to me to post my comment, how should I do?
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
Can you shoot me a message here http://disqus.com/help and elaborate upon your question some?
  • ThatMarika · 2 months ago
is using Disquis for better monitoring her comments and getting back in touch!
  • Ray Waldo · 2 months ago
Is there a reason why you MODERATE EVERY post? I have posted several times here and I have a registered account. This is the first such support site that I have ever visited that once you are registered and have approved comments that future comments must also be moderated. Strange ... Like you do not want any negative comments. Not that I would post anything but it is the state of affairs today that you have to accept negative comments if you are going to be a user-friendly company. BTW, it is NOT important for this post to be approved - it is primarily for your consumption.

Hi can you plz provide me detailed description how to use DISQUS with wordpress.com?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Disqus only works with Wordpress.org as the .com product does nto support third party plugins.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Currently we only work with wordpress.org
  • CUPE Doll · 2 months ago
Seems terrific. Not seeing the "moderate" button, though. Just the "flag" button. Bug -- or silly newbie error?
  • Ray Waldo · 2 months ago
If you are not logged in with sufficient credentials, you will only see the "Flag" button. You must have moderator privilege for a site in order to see the Moderate button. As just a USER on this site, I do not see the moderate button. However, I am confident that Giannii does see it. <grin>.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
As Ray says you need to be the moderator of the site to see it and also have Disqus installed =P
  • CUPE Doll · 2 months ago
Alright, would it then make sense to expect that "moderate" button when logged into one's own site as sole moderator? If so, what's it mean when the button goes missing?

    ________________________________
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Exactly, if you're the moderator you'll see that option.
  • Ray Waldo · 2 months ago
Being logged into your blog is not necessarily the same as being logged into Disqus. In the comments block does it show you as logged in there? If so, then maybe you have two disqus logins. It works fine for me. Another thing you might try is to temporarily switch to the default WP theme. If it works there, then your theme may not be compatible.
  • CUPE Doll · 1 month ago
Thanks Waldo. Yes, I was logged in @ disqus -- and still no option to moderate directly. You might be right re possible theme incompatibility...

  • Giannii · 1 month ago
Can you email me the theme? help@disqus.com
  • CUPE Doll · 1 month ago
Sorry Gianii, I'm a total newbie. Are you asking what my Worpress theme is (Atahualpa)?
  • CUPE Doll · 1 month ago
Here's another symptom. Not sure if it signifies -- but you might want to know. Bear with me while I describe the obvious to better pinpoint what seems out of place.

When accessing "comments" from the Wordpress dashboard, a Disqus panel has replaced the original page. There are two button options: "Manage" and "Advanced Options". The "Advanced Options" is accessible fine. When going to "Manage", a login prompt window pops up. Trouble is, the login window persists after I login to Disqus. So I can't obtain access.

Btw, not due to improper login. Since improper login attempts yields "We couldn't log you in. Please check what you've entered."
  • CUPE Doll · 1 month ago
Far as I know I'm the sole user and moderator. Thus far. Yet, whether or not logged into Disqus -- the option isn't there. Just the "Flag" button.
  • CUPE Doll · 1 month ago
Just to let any/everyone know. All problems were due to there having been a double installation of WordPress. Once that got cleaned up, everything went fine. Disqus is working great.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
I do not see disqus on your site, can you link me to a post with Disqus enabled and I'll take a look. =)
  • محمد حمزة · 2 months ago
Disqus is an awesome service , but i hop it supports Arabic .
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
    We're working on it =)
  • محمد حمزة · 2 months ago
I hope you complete it soon , good luck :)

    Totally off topic but...

I'm configuring a custom disqus install and have a quick question. When posting a comment as a guest, is there a way to bypass the modal popup that prompts you to create a disqus account and "just post as a guest". I'm guessing this is a VIP-only feature, but want to make sure. Thanks in advance.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Currently no, this is a part of our flow and could be modified within our VIP product. http://disqus.com/vip

  • Ray Waldo · 2 months ago
I really like Disqus. I tried ID for a couple weeks but your product is so much richer and does just about everything I currently want it to do.
However, I do have two issues. I will present one here and the other in the next comment.

I see that you use BackType to retrieve Tweets about a topic. I tried that but when a tweet came in, it did not show up in Disqus (even thought WP displayed a new comment). I had to disable Disqus, approve the comment, then re-enable Disqus. The guys at BackType said that their plugin and Disqus did not play well together - then I see that you are using both. What is wrong with my setup? (BTW, I have disabled BT.)
  • Ray Waldo · 2 months ago
Issue #2. I do not understand the Cross-domain receiver function. I created a blank.html and referenced it in setup but I still have to delete my cache before new comments will appear. Also, if I get it working, the description says that it adds "rich functionality" - what does it actually do?
  • Ray Waldo · 2 months ago
BTW, the URL for my blank.html is http://cogbishop.com/blank.html and my two primary sites are http://raywaldo.com and http://chiefshepherd.com (both use the same blank.html url).

Are you getting any error messages?
  • Justin · 1 month ago
Hmm. I might have to give this a try out and see how it compares to IntenseDebate. I had a horrid problem with spam on my company blog and had to quickly switch. Now I'm considering switching again..

FYI, the Name, Email and Website fields have invisible text for Firefox 3.0.14 on a Mac. I've got to highlight the fields to see what I wrote. Pretty much white text on a white background.

  • Brian Wong · 1 month ago
I downloaded it but got put off when I realized I had to overwrite all the past comments on my 4 year old blog. But I do like what I see here. I think I will have to invest the time to see how to import all my old comments into this system.
  • Giannii · 1 month ago
You can import your comments by going here: WP Admin > Comments > Adv Options > Import

Keep in mind Disqus must be installed for you see that.
