Wish I could import (or better ... to sync!) my Facebook comments to DISQUS, too.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
    We're working on something. =)
  • rjwalkerz · 2 months ago

  • Philip J Beyer · 2 months ago
I noticed the Blogger import feature over the weekend when I was migrating a bunch of blogs over to DISQUS. I must've caught it in testing or initial rollout because it didn't work for me at the time. I'll try it again today and see how it goes!
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Can you shoot me a note here with which the sites you were importing: http://disqus.com/help
  • Glenn Lopez · 2 months ago

  • lucas · 2 months ago
for some reason, when at http://disqus.com/comments/moderate/, if i click on either the "Settings" or the "Tools" link, I am taken back to http://disqus.com/comments/ , and therefore I can't configure my blogger profile nor perform any other action on the site...

maybe it's happening because I have not added any blog/site that I moderate? if that's the case, I would expect to have an error message explaining that this is the reason to not be able to access the settings/tools pages.

Hi, I am new to disqus. If I enable it on my blogger or wordpress does that mean I can use disqus to update my blog or it is only for people to make comments on my blog?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Just for people to comment on your blog.
  • ipotpal ipotpalov · 2 months ago
    Interesting
  • achali · 2 months ago
i imported then patched, in that order. had to assume since i didn't see anything about a proper order to do this in.

now my popular threads widget is showing old threads using the web address instead of the blog post title...

    http://liberatormagazine.com

    any suggestions?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
I'll take a look first thing, also it's best to send your help questions here: http://disqus.com/help
  • achali · 2 months ago
thanks. btw... since the widget was displaying blog titles incorrectly, we took it off our home page for now.

so the popular widget is in the footer of our blog. i'm leaving it there so you guys can see what i'm talking about with the URL displaying instead of the blog post title, but it looks pretty ugly, especially for URLs that are very long.

    http://weblog.liberatormagazine.com

(submitted a help request too on 10/3)

    thanks for your help
  • abang terlalu · 2 months ago
finally i can use disqus. thank you!
  • achali · 2 months ago
Do I have this correct? I was already using Disqus btw.

    1) Import blogger comments using Disqus tool.
    2) Wait
    3) Reinstall Disqus
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
This is only if you want to have disqus on those older post with just blogger comments. I'll make that more clear. =)
  • Maketta · 2 months ago
What should I do? I don't understand what is causing this problem so, I don't know what to do to fix it. What should I do?
  • impickles · 2 months ago
What about logging in with blogger? When I tried Disqus that was the biggest complaint. Will this ever be enabled?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
You can use your blogger account with our OpenID login, you just need to use your site url i.e. awesome.blogspot.com
  • aieealerts · 2 months ago
love it. am moving in from js-kit! Recently they suck n you rock! Thank you so much
  • susanai56 · 2 months ago
    Going to try 'blogger' again.
  • schwa · 2 months ago
Really want threads to be automagically-closed after a defined period of time. I have no interest in comments on old thread.
  • Daniel Ha · 2 months ago
This is a request that we still have pending on implementation. It's going to make its way into Disqus soon.
  • Maketta · 2 months ago
I am having the same problem. I imported my older comments into disqus. Now, my older comments imported fine, but my blog posts comments are not showing up for my newer posts. You cannot see the comments box. It worked perfectly for a few minutes, but after that I started having the above problems. What can I do to fix it?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Can you send me an email with the steps to you took? http://disqus.com/help
  • पं. डी.के.शर्मा "वत्स" · 2 months ago
    nice!!!!!!!
  • Brad F. · 2 months ago
This still isn't working for me. It imported my old posts but it didn't import certain characters properly like: &, ', and ". It gives character codes instead, so the comments look all screwed up. Can this be fixed please?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Can you shoot me a full description and I'll look into it. You can email me here: http://disqus.com/help
  • Brad F. · 2 months ago
Hi Hi. I think I figured out what it is. When you're looking at the comment moderation pane and the comment is collapsed, it shows character codes for quotation marks, apostrophes, etc. When you expand the comment it looks normal. It works just fine. Thanks for the reply though!
  • webdesigncompanylondon · 2 months ago
I will really like to review my all comment on the DISQUS by using the " import your blogger comment" tools.
  • Rene Rosa · 2 months ago
Got it to work for old posts, but for some reason my new posts don't have ANY COMMENTS field at all! What should i do?

    http://www.entertainingevil.com/
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Can you double check your new posts to see if comments are enabled within blogger? If that does not work shoot me a message here: http://disqus.com/help and I'll take a look for ya.
  • a. · 2 months ago
I'm having similar problems (as I wrote you). Re-patching the template isn't working.

So, to make sure I understand your advice above:
In Blogger, under "settings", I *do* need to set Blogger to "new posts have no comments" and "new posts have no backlings", and also to "hide comments" and "hide backlinks"?

Because even when set to do this, the comment form and imported comment threads still won't show up in individual post view.

I know it worked fine immediately after importing all old Blogger comments into my Disqus and re-patching the template. Just it stopped working altogether about an hour after that.

    Could it be Blogger?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
I'd open a ticket with blogger and see what they say. When you get a response shoot me a message here: http://disqus.com/help
  • a. · 2 months ago
I might open a ticket with Blogger to hear what they say (but I know that in case of custom templates, they usually put all the blame on the user anyways).

But two things that might be of interest to others here, too.

    1. How do we set commenting & backlinking settings in Blogger itself? All to 'DO NOT SHOW' and 'NEW POSTS DON'T HAVE...'?

    2. Is this instruction for manual patching applicable to the new situation as well? -> http://wiki.disqus.net/BloggerHelp#ManuallyPatc...
(because the Help section within Disqus doesn't link to this instruction anymore and produces a .404 instead)

    Thank you!
  • achali · 2 months ago
i patched and unpatched, then showed and hid my comments a few times and for some random reason it finally worked, after not seeing any comment field on new posts for a few hours the day i originally imported.

the issue with the imported posts not capturing the blog post title and substituting it with the URL is still troubling me tho
  • Jan Čeřovský (Belcarnen) · 2 months ago
There is one problem... import is probably using Blogger RSS feeds for the articles, but those show only last 25 items. So if you have more comments than this, which is my case, only last 25 are imported. I switched fully to Disqus and lost many good conversations because of this problem. Still hopping something could be done about it.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Untrue, we actually use Bloggers API. Shoot me a message here: http://disqus.com/help with which posts are missing and I can take a look for you.
  • Jan Čeřovský (Belcarnen) · 2 months ago
Already did, problem is fixed now and older comments imported too. Thanks.
  • Prashant Rajkhowa · 2 months ago
This is great - I'm going to delete my last comment about Blogger import not working. I had manually patched the blog the last time. This time the auto patch worked perfectly. Only problem - VIEW COMMENTS isn't appearing on the post tease and clicking on the comments link shows an empty page - help would be appreciated.
  • laura57 · 2 months ago
    Thumbs Up! I like!
  • Michael Kaiser · 2 months ago
So, am I understanding this correctly: I already have Disqus installed on two different Blogger accounts - I need to reinstall it via uploading the template file for a patch, or am I fine the way it is?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Only if you're already using Disqus and you want your older blogger comments to be synced.
  • Ywain Penbrydd · 2 months ago
You rock, Giannii. I have no idea what changed, but the comments are finally showing up. Thank you!
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
    Thanks! =)

  • Yogesh Gautam · 2 months ago
    Thanks for it
  • Maketta · 2 months ago
Should I revert back to the way my template was before I patched it. At least my newer comments show up. My older comments will not be imported into disqus, but I don't know what else to do. I'm very very frustrated.
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Can you forward me your template here: help@disqus.com with a brief description of your problem. Thanks!
  • Maketta · 2 months ago
I finally figured out what was going on. My comments are now showing up. The problem is that I didn't have allow comments configured. Instead I had don't allow hide existing checked. Whoever else is having this problem when you go to write a new post in your blog click post options there you will see reader comments at the bottom and make sure that you are allowing comments. I think this came about is because when I first started using disqus the instructions told you to hide the comments, but I guess when they imported the older comments I should of allowed comments instead of hiding comments.

Can I expect Google friendconnect in future as I have it in my site... Facebook comments showing however would me much more appreciated :)

    Thanks
  • Daniel Ha · 2 months ago
What do you mean it doesn't show?
  • digitalsuccess · 2 months ago
    Can this work for wordpress?
  • Giannii · 2 months ago
Yes, you can sync your comments with Wordpress. If you head over to your Wordpress Admin > Comments > Advanced Options > Import.
  • digitalsuccess · 2 months ago
