The Disqus Blog: Disappearing comments on Tumblr blogs

  • SEO · 1 year ago
Disqus must be flexible enough to auto detect missing links or re-structured URLs.
  • SEO · 1 year ago
Disqus should be flexible to detect URL changes. There are times where bloggers might also change their URL structure too.

Awesome. Your post was extremely helpful - I had no idea about the changes, noticed a glitch, logged on to Disqus and was instantly informed. Really appreciate it.
  • carocat · 1 year ago
I literally just noticed that on my blog and then came here to see what's broken. Coincidently I didn't notice they changed they permalink!

Thanks a lot for the quick work guys, I really appreciate it and just wanted to say I love Disqus. :)

*Patiently awaits her blog comments to fix themselves* Hey, guess this means I don't have the pressure of having to reply to the comments and can actually watch a film!

Still not fixed for me.. Jason is this being rolled out slowly or should it of hit all accounts at once?
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
It should be fixed by tonight or early tomorrow. Let us know if not.
  • speakingoffaith · 1 year ago
Hello, any idea on when this may be working properly again? Before the weekend? We're a public radio program that uses it on our staff blog and are soliciting five-word acceptance speeches for our Webby, as well as other posts. We don't want our audience to feel like we're sitting on their clever ideas. Thanks for the great service.
  • Jason · 1 year ago
Hi, we've just rolled out a fix which fixes part of the problem. This will be completely fixed by the end of the day.
  • trentgilliss · 1 year ago
Thanks for the quick work. Most of comments on the posts are restored except for the aforementioned entry: http://blog.speakingoffaith.org/post/33988843/s....
  • Jason · 1 year ago
The migration has completed. Let me know if you are still seeing any issues.

While most accounts are resolved with the fix, all accounts won't be smoothed out until the end of the day.

Thanks for the quick fix! I'm not sure whether this is covered by "completely fixed by the end of the day" or not, but comments are showing up for some of my posts now, but not this one:

    http://blog.daryn.net/post/35695341/comments
(should be this thread: http://daryn.disqus.com/daryns_tumblelog_29/ )

I did post then delete a comment to this post while things were messed up, so maybe that's causing it, but either way, just wanted to let you know.

Thank goodness the permalinks forward. Given how Disqus is the primary provider of commenting for Tumblr, I'm surprised they didn't give you guys a heads-up.
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
We've been in touch with David and Marco from Tumblr. They've been helpful and everything is coming along great.

Is there a similar problem with Blogger ? My Disqus comment form disappeared from http://www.voyageek.com
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
There was no issues with Blogger. Did you change anything since having the form disappear?

Oh dear... everything was working fine for me, but I decided to redo the blog integration so I can have a community page... I have all the comments in the dashboard, but the blog (hacks.tumblr.com) does not show any comments. :/

    What's the prob?
  • Denis · 1 year ago
well... I re-did the blog integration because I wanted to set up a community page (I did not do it before).

now, the community page shows most of the posts (http://tumblrhacks.disqus.com/), but I cannot see the old comments. I guess it is because of the permalink change from Tumblr as you said right? Any idea how can I fix this?

On the other hand, the old blog works fine. I guess because I did not do the blog integration.

also, the oldest posts are taken as the newest... can I reverse this?
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
A community page is automatically set up for you. You didn't need to
    do anything.

Yes, it looks like the permalink change affected your comments. Please
    email help@disqus.com for assistance, thanks!

    Hello,

I discover your blog with a research on the radio.
I use it to announce you the arrival of the new website of RCM (Small French local radio).
I also offer you to listen to us ( www.rcmlaradio.fr a 'good morning' on Tchat will please us).

Excuse me for bad English, it is not my native language (if you speak three languages you are trilingual, if vous speak two languages you are bilingual and if you speak a single language you are French ;-)

Thank you for this small message on your blog.

Thanks for the information. I guess most will be trying out frantically why doesn't their comments appear and the blogger might be wondering why are the comments so little and getting demoralized by it.
  • Ryan Low · 9 months ago
Its good for Tumblr to have the URL extension change. At least the user will know what is the page they have clicked and get a better understand of it. I believed Disqus should be having a hard time getting it solved quick. Tumblr should inform Disqus about this issue that they are changing.
  • jonaw · 9 months ago
Comments are important to the blogger when maybe the commenters are having problems and wants to get the issue solve immediately. With disappearance of comments might post great problems to them. It's good that Disqus always update what's going on for explanation.
