This is a great collabration. I have just installed Disqus and have been using Plaxo for the past few months.

Plaxo is supposed to be setting up something for Tumblr users too. Soon you can send your Tumblr feed to Plaxo and Plaxo will ask you if you're using Disqus for your comments.

    awesome
  • n8k99 · 1 year ago
this is good. now if only you guys could partner with google so that disqus is the default commenting system for their feed reader.
  • Dean Simmer · 1 year ago
There is a Firefox plugin to make Disqus the commenting system in Google Read. I'll not link it unless requested (I hate being viewed as blog spam) but let me know if you'd like it.
  • n8k99 · 1 year ago
oh yes, i use it already- it would just be nice if it were not so optional, if yo know how i mean

Plaxo is placing it's brand in every social-thing out there! I started out with the Plaxo service in the "bad" old days when Plaxo was considered a spammer. I loved the idea of aggregating all my disparate contacts from Yahoo, G-Mail, AIM, mobile phone and local apps into one place, and then keeping these sources all synced up. Best of all my contacts could simply change their email address or mobile number and my data would be up to date. Now they're moving in to the realm of all encompassing social aggregator. Plaxo Plus allow me to see what my contacts are doing on the web: Flickring, blogging, Tweeting, etc. (E.G. FriendFeed before there was a FreindFeed.)

I applaud them for going beyond contact aggregation and seeing the big picture.

Somehow (what, have I been living under a rock?) I'd never heard of Plaxo until this very day, but I had caught onto FriendFeed in recent weeks, and very much like it. I'll have to check out the former tomorrow (perhaps when my brain isn't already in danger of exploding from info overload). Thanks Disqus-ers :)

can i get rid of the dumb comments i have made in the past, or the ones in different arenas, that is, informal playful stuff in one context, vs. business-like in another? when i check people out on disqus, it is all lumped together, and some don't look so smart....

    so, can i?
  • B42 · 1 year ago
I deleted all my test comments yesterday just by clicking the admin button on my dashboard, not only does a remove option come up but the email and ip address of the commenter are there as well.
Not sure about deleting in the 'different arenas' yet as I'm still new to it all.

I just installed disqus yesterday and have been using plaxo for a couple of months. So far so good after getting over a couple of hurdles in the process, (due mostly to my own misunderstandings). Now just to convince the others in my circle how invaluable it is...(the greader addon also rocks)

Nice one! :) Keep it up!

Great going! Disqus-Plaxo collaboration comes as a sigh of relief for the poor bloggers who deserve to be aware of “Who Thinks What Aspect” on their blog. I feel it is the first step towards producing constructive bloggers.
I really like your opening paragraph. It provides a sense of satisfaction to the bloggers who can now be aware of the discussion happening on the web, over their blog
Disqus is a bloggers paradise and Plaxo now serves as a host to this paradise with its ability to get back to the blog with fragmented comments via Disqus. This sounds quite interesting and the synchronization of both is just mind-blowing, at least for the bloggers!

this still isn't working for me??? Comments made on plaxo do NOT show up in my disqus dashboard?? THis is why I installed disqus on my blog. Very FRUSTRATING. I also cannot seem to find any support or mention of anyone else having this issue???
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
    Hi Elizabeth,

I'll look into this for you. We did not do the Plaxo implementation.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
I noticed that www.mingoe.com is doing very similar things, evidently it starts not too long ago but is capturing the users fast. Do you guys have anything to do with them?

sounds like a great tool. At least it will help stratifying the posts and also to keep track of comments.

Plaxo testing a login method that lets users sign on using Gmail accounts. The method uses OpenID, OAuth, to process a user's login.

All of a sudden, OpenID is looking like it has a very bright future.

The collaboration is simply awesome! I really love it.
  • Property Singapore · 10 months ago
Without fragmented comments, is best for the blogger to keep track on the comments that have been posted irregardless of whichever platform the commenters wrote their remarks. No double comments will appear for both. Great integration.
  • ryanlow · 10 months ago
I am actually quite confused on this integration as I not very sure what it does. After further read on, I felt that it’s very useful to users who want to synchronize plaxo with their blog. This allows them to handle comments easily.
