i'm trying to change the color of the widget that disqus uses. the main font color is blending in with the background. sorry i'm a css ilterate..is the custom css where i'd look for this as well?

    http://sean808080.com and you'll see what i mean.

Hi Sean, try adding this to your CSS:

    #dsq-combo-widget.orange #dsq-combo-content .dsq-combo-box li { color:
    #333; }

Hope that helps. There's some CSS documentation on the widget page
    itself.
  • sean808080 · 1 year ago
that did it. thanks much Daniel!
  • darkegreen · 1 year ago
where do you type that code in?
  • darkegreen · 1 year ago
darkegreen.tumblr .... look at my comments its black along with the bg so u cant even read it
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
    you can add:

    #dsq-content { color: white; }
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
Add that CSS between the <head> </head> tags in your theme.
  • Curt · 1 year ago
How do I get it so the code doesn't show up on my page? Example, http://boomshockalocka.tumblr.com/post/62465930...

"#dsq-content { color: white; }" appears at the bottom in black

On a related note, can someone tell me how to change the color of the Disqus comment link on my Tumblr? I think it's blue by default but I want to change it to something else. Thanks!
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
On the link itself, add the style property so it looks like this:

    Comments

    Hi, Daniel.

I'm having the same difficulty in changing the color of my "comment" button on my blog to jive with the scheme.

Please have a look and let me know if your expertise could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks,
    David

You can add style rules to the link itself, for example

    a href="{Permalink}#disqus_thread" style="color: blue"
  • david · 1 year ago
    Thanks, Daniel.

    Amazing.

Hi Daniel. Don't know if this is the place for this... but is there a way of seeing all the participating Disqus sites? It will be nice to have a catalog of all the sites arranged by category. Or searchable by keywords. I just want to participate on sites with Disqus and it's been frustrating searching for Disqus participating sites. How do I even google for it?

Good work, by the way and lots of luck to you:)

This post seems to be the most fitting for my problem. Daniel, you gave different options for different situations so Im not sure which one I can use.

Also, I have looked at the custom CSS section but I think this doesnt cover changing the widget? Excuse if I overseen sth.

Im using the "Recent Comments" widget on our site.
Now the blue link color doesnt fit to the theme. How can I change the color of the links in the widget.

Besides this I want to change the link color of EVERY single link of the comments (reply, reblog, add video comment, etc.)

All links will have the same color.

What entries does the CSS need to achieve this?

    Thanks!

I have the same problem. Were you able to fix it?
  • corti · 9 months ago
The same problem goes in my page too.
I want to change the link & text colours, when I add the code between <head></head> the codes shows up on the page, as Curt said earlier.

    Any help?

I frankly admit that I didn't understand exactly how to / where to put the codes.

I would appreciate any help. My comments are black, and I have a dark background. I am surprised Disqus hasnt provided a way to customize at least the colors of text. How and where do I change the comment text color?

    Much appreciated, and thanks! :)

I've been struggling with the same problem and am stumped. I've tried everything mentioned above. I've used disqus with my older tumblr blogs and the comments are white. I never changed anything. Now one my new blog the comments are black and you cant see them against my black background.

    I really need help! Anyone?
  • Randy · 6 months ago
Me too! Were you able to fix it?

I have a blog with a black background. I've set up CSS so my comments show up properly, but when a person isn't logged in, the iframe containing login form displays the labels with black text so they don't show up. How do I change the CSS for the iframe?
  • takepanicout · 6 months ago
my comment 'click' is black and i tried following the directions on this forum, but with no luck. my site is: http://prettypurplepeople.tumblr.com ....what am i not doing right? thank you!
  • Faefext · 6 months ago
Hi! I have a pretty dark tumbl account (feafext.tumblr.com) so nobody (including myself) can read the comments, unless i highlight it. I've been trying to change the colors, but i'm afraid to ruin the whole thing. Can someone tell me how I can change the font color to white?
  • Kevin · 6 months ago
I'm also trying to help a friend lighten his comments -- by either changing the font to white, or by putting them in a white container, like the rest of his site's posts: http://bobbarth.tumblr.com

It seems like there is a lot of us trying to accomplish this. Is there anyone who can help guide those who don't know CSS? With the new default Tumblr themes being pretty dark, this seems like it's only going to continue...

I'm looking to make the background on my widget darker. Something like black or charcoal Grey. Is it possible to add some code when I embed it to my sidebar? I'm using Wordpress.org on my site.
    Thanks!
